On writing GOOD
- Subject and verb always has to agree
- Don’t use no double negatives
- Being bad grammer, writers won’t use dangling participles
- Make each pronoun agree with their antecedent
- Don’t use foreign terms when there is an adequate quid pro quo
- If you must use a foreign term, it is de rigor to use and spell it correctly
- It is important to understand how to use apostrophe’s
- It behooves the writer to avoid archaic expressions
- Don’t connect separate sentences with a comma, they are too hard to reader
- Don’t use hyperbole; not one writer in a million can use it correctly
- Consult the dictionary frequently to avoid mispelling
- A truly good writer is always especially careful to practically eliminate the all-too-frequent use of adverbs
- It is no longer a great crime to intentionally split an infinitive
- Dangling prepositions are often acceptable, particularly when the alternative is something up with which your editor will not put
- Avoid cliches like the plague
